Frank Patterson has more than twenty years of experience as a writer, director and producer of movies and television programs. His most recently produced screenwriting credits include “Broke Sky” (2007) and “Confession of a Florist” (2003), starring Academy Award nominee Sylvia Miles, which he also directed. In addition to his numerous feature film credits, Patterson has directed more than one hundred television commercials and music videos for such clients as Ogilvy & Mather and RCA Records in New York. Patterson is represented by the William Morris Agency.

Professor Patterson serves as the dean of Florida State’s College of Motion Picture, Television and Recording Arts, a program recognized by the Directors Guild of America for its “distinguished contribution to American culture through the world of film and television.” Under Patterson’s leadership, the college has won more Student Academy Awards and Student Emmys combined in one year than any film school in the history of the industry.

Florida Governor Charlie Christ recently honored Frank Patterson for "inspiring a generation of Florida filmmakers" and for his "contribution and support of production in Florida." In addition to his service at Florida State, Patterson has taught film production and screen writing at The University of Texas, Baylor University and Chapman University, where he also served as the Director of the School of Film and Television. Prior to joining Chapman, Patterson served as President of The Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood, California.

Patterson holds bachelor and master degrees in communications from Baylor University. He is the father of two children, and the husband of actress and FSU School of Theatre faculty member, Leslie France.
